Ten Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Ask Jesus Into

Your Heart Or Accept Jesus As Your Savior

Countless of millions have asked Jesus to come and fill a “God shaped hole” they have in their hearts that only He can fill. Millions are bogged down with the weight of modern capitalistic life and the hectic shuffle and bustle that only creates meaninglessness and despair. Countless numbers of these millions are searching for some solution to the problems of modern life have invited Jesus into their heart in hopes of some relief. The preacher tells them “Give your heart to Jesus and invite Jesus into your heart” “Accept Jesus as your Savior” and that is what they do. So, what’s wrong with that?  Now brace yourself for this: with very few if any exceptions, anyone who asked Jesus into their hearts to be saved or has accepted Jesus as their Savior...is not saved at all and on a path to hell. One more time - with very few if any exceptions, anyone who asked Jesus into their hearts to be saved or has accepted Jesus as their Savior...is not saved at all and on a path to hell. If you were told that in order to become a Christian and to be saved you need to ask Jesus into your heart and accept Him as your Savior, you have been lied to and misinformed! Also if you have told someone else that they need to ask Jesus into their heart and accept Him as their Savior to be saved you have produced a false convert.  Don’t believe it? Here are ten reasons why.

Ten Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Ask Jesus Into Your Heart Or Accept Jesus As Your Savior

1. It is not in Bible. There is not a single verse in the entire Bible that hints or even slightly suggest that we are to say a prayer to invite or ask Jesus into our hearts. I am well aware that some will try use Rev. 3:20 to suggest that Jesus is knocking at the door of our hearts and we need to let him in. But this is not what the Scripture says. Jesus is not knocking at the door of a human heart he is knocking at the door of a lukewarm church who says “I am rich and in need of nothing” Jesus is knocking at the door of a backslidden church that He calls poor blind, miserable and naked. The Scripture clearly states that Jesus is knocking at the door of a group of people that that has locked him out of the church. Not a human heart. To suggest that Jesus is knocking at the door of a human heart would be trying to twist Scripture to mean something it was never intended to mean. And trying to make it mean something that it does not say. Also, there is no Scripture in the Bible that tell us we need to or should accept Jesus as our Savior. We are told to make Him Lord and Master, but never to accept Him as Savior. The Bible never instructs us to ask Jesus into our heart and/or accept Him as Savior. Even though this is more than reason enough to stop this practice - here are nine more to drive the point home. 2. Asking Jesus into your heart is illogical and makes no sense. What does it mean to ask Jesus into your heart anyway? What if you say the incantation wrong? Will He come anyway? Will He come literally? What ventricle does He reside in or does He roam between all of them? You say it is figurative. Well then what does that mean exactly? Were you conscious of what that meant before you said the incantations? Did the pastor fully explain and articulate what this figurative meaning is? Can you intelligently and accurately describe what this figurative meaning is in way a child could understand? How does this save you according to Scripture? What are the Salvation Scriptures that told you to do so?  I have heard of some people try to say that Ephesians 3:14-19 is telling us to ask Jesus into our hearts:  For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, [15] Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, [16] That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; [17] That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, [18] May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; [19] And to know the love of Christ, which passes knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fullness of God.  The truth is: One can clearly see the Eph. 3:14-19 is telling us the Lord God strengthens our "inner man" by His Holy Spirit so that Christ does dwell in our hearts by faith, but only when we repent and make Him the Lord and Master of our lives and become filled with the fullness of God. Asking Jesus to "come into" our hearts has nothing to do with it, is illogical, and is NOT what the Scripture tells us to do. 3. In order to be saved , a man must repent. (Lk 13:3; 2 Cor 7:10; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 11:18; 17:30 ) Asking Jesus into your heart for salvation completely leaves out the unwavering requirement of repentance, without which you can not be saved. Asking Jesus into your heart will not and does not save you. Accepting Jesus as Savior also leaves out repentance and does not save you. 4. In order to be saved, man must trust in Jesus and have application orientated faith (believe), or in other words the type of faith that produces works. (Rom 5:1; Heb 11:6; Jn 3:16; 8:24; Acts 16:31; Jas 2:24; 1 Jn 3:24; Jn 6:28-29 ) Asking Jesus into your heart and accepting Jesus as Savior leaves out the unwavering requirement of application orientated faith, or faith that produces works. If you do not have faith that produces good works in your life you according to the Bible are not saved, even if you have accepted Jesus as Savior and asked Him into your heart.  5. A person who wrongly believes they are saved will have a false sense of security. Millions of people are told to trust and have faith in their salvation status, not in Jesus. They are told that they must have faith and truly believe they are saved, never doubt their salvation and nothing can ever snatch them from Gods hand no matter what they do. Instead of being told they need to have application orientated faith in Jesus as Lord and Master of their life and work out their salvation daily with fear and trembling - only then will their salvation be secure. 6. The person who asks Jesus into his heart will most likely end up inoculated, bitter and backslidden. Because this person did not get saved by reciting some repeat after me “Ask Jesus into your heart and accept Him as your Savior” prayer, they steadily become disillusioned with Jesus, the Bible, the church, and other believers. This person will end up worse than before - backslidden, religious, and/or a legalist - - twice the child of hell. 7. It presents God as a beggar just hoping you will let him into your busy and hectic life. This presentation robs God of His sovereignty, righteousness, holiness and justice. This is a misrepresentation of God. It is a lie, plain and simple! We are never told accept Jesus as our Savior. You can not accept Jesus as your Savior - it is impossible. You can and are told to make Jesus the Lord and Master of your life, thus your life as you know it will cease to exist. When Jesus is Lord and Master of your life you will live every second of your life in service and submission to the will of your Lord and Master, you will be a literal love slave for Jesus - only then will He become your Savior. Jesus is not begging you to accept Him as Savior - He is inviting you to lose your life, pick up your cross, deny yourself and become a love slave for Him making Him your Lord and Master. 8. The cause of Jesus is ridiculed and put to open shame. Most Christians who have asked Jesus into their heart and accepted Him as Savior live and look just like the rest of the world because they have never truly repented, died to their flesh and made Jesus Lord and Master of their life. With the exception of church attendance they are just like worldly people. In fact, most Muslims, Hindus and Buddhists live more moral lives than your average Sunday morning American Christian does. This puts Jesus to open shame. 9. The cause of evangelism is hindered. This goes along with #8. With American Christianity being the most immoral, worldly religion out of all the major religions, evangelism is severely hindered. Sure it’s easy to get someone to ask Jesus into their heart who doesn’t want to give up their worldly life style. But then you are only producing a false convert and further hindering the conversion of true disciples. How many people refuse Jesus saying “Why should I become a Christian when I see Christians acting worse than pagans?”  10. Here’s a scary one - Judgment Day! People who ask Jesus into their hearts and try to accept Jesus as their Savior are not saved and will perish on the day of judgment. How sad is it that millions think they are right with God and are really not? How many of the people who are cast into hell while crying “Lord, Lord” will be those who have asked Jesus into their hearts and have thought they have accepted Him as their savior? What must I do? So what must a person do in order to be saved? Repent and be baptized for the remission of sin, have application orientated faith (believe), make Jesus your Lord and Master, pick up your cross, deny yourself, be obedient and follow Christ. (walk as He walked) Check it out for yourself - please look up the following Scriptures on salvation. (Rom 10:14-17; Prov 28:9; Isa 55:3; Acts 11:14; Rom 5:1; Heb 11:6; Jn 3:16; 8:24; Acts 16:31; Lk 13:3; 2 Cor 7:10; Acts 2:38; 3:19; 11:18; 17:30; Mt 10:32-33; Lk 9:26; Rom 10:9-10; Acts 8:36-37; 1 Pe 3:21; Mk 16:16; Jas 2:24; 1 Jn 3:24; Jn 6:28-29; Heb 5:8-9; Mt 10:22; Rev 2:10; Acts 2:40; Acts 15:11; Rom 3:24; Eph 2:8-9; Tit 2:11-12) The Truth. The truth is every man on the face of the planet has a “God shaped hole in their heart“. The lie is that that hole is contentment, purpose, financial security, peace, etc. The truth is that mans heart problem is righteousness. Instead of telling people that Jesus fulfills, we must tell people that God judges and Jesus’ work on the cross can satisfy Gods judgment and wrath that is currently upon them...only if they repent, turn from their sin and put their faith in Jesus by making Him Lord and Master and following His commands. If you have asked Jesus into your heart and tried to accept Him as your Savior and are reading this, there is a good probability that you had a spiritual high (buzz) for a while, maybe even a number of years, but have since stopped going to church, praying, reading your Bible and always find some justification for the sins that are hardest for you to give up. If you are one of these people. please my friend, reread “What must I do?” and contact me if there is any way I can help you further. www.thesearchforbiblicaltruth.org - Patrick Ersig - This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it  If you are telling others to ask Jesus into their heart and accept Him as their Savior, I beg you, please STOP IMMEDIATELY!!!
