Scriptural Evidence the Revival in Lakeland, Florida under Todd Bentley is not of God: -
(Mat 7:15). Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
The
Lord Jesus clearly warned us to BEWARE of false prophets. Note, they
appear to be sheep, for they are dressed in sheep's clothing! Yet,
inwardly, secretly, they are ferocious wolves. This is a command of
Jesus, and anyone that claims to be a prophet or a teacher we need to
examine in light of the Scriptures whether they are true or false. This
isn't paranoia, it's obedience to the Lord! Todd Bentley and his
practices need to be examined with the Word of God and if they don't
pass the test of Scripture, then he needs to be rejected by the true
Body of Christ. Just because there's many "wonderful works" going on
doesn't mean that he is a true prophet of God.
I submit to
everyone reading this that Todd Bentley is a false prophet. The Word of
God condemns him as such. His practices are not only extra-scriptural,
but many are also anti-scriptural.
(Mat 24:23-25).
Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there;
believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false
prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it
were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told
you before.
The Greek word for "Christ" literally
means, "Anointed". This could literally be read, "There shall arise
false anointings, and false prophets..." Showing what? What do they do?
"Great signs and wonders." Reading this scripture causes me to have the
rally cry of Todd Bentley and that whole movement echoing in my head,
which says, "SIGNS! WONDERS! MIRACLES!" over and over.
The
nature of these counterfeit anointings is so deceptive that it is
likened to be able to deceive even the elect saints (which is not
possible). But that is how deceptive it is! Note, if it is that
deceptive, there needs to be extreme caution here in these last days.
These "false Christ's", or "false anointings", and "false prophets",
don't outwardly come out and say "I am Jesus Christ the Messiah"
-that's actually quite rare, and it doesn't deceive many. Instead, what
they do, is come "in the name of Jesus" (another Jesus) and operate
under a counterfeit anointing and do so many great signs and wonders
that multitudes are captivated in awe. Then, once the person who gets
sucked into this delusion embraces the doctrines and spirits behind
this counterfeit anointing, they get demonized and condemned by the
judgment of God for believing and following a false prophet and
embracing "another spirit".
(Act 8:18-20). And when
Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost
was given, he offered them money, Saying, Give me also this power, that
on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. But Peter
said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought
that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
Simon
was a man who originally did many signs and wonders and miracles (and
it certainly didn't prove he was of God!). After his supposed
'conversion', he saw that the Apostles had great power and could impart
the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands, and he desired the same
power also. Isn't that a good thing, desiring the Holy Ghost? Well, it
depends on what your reasons are. If it is just to have power and
expand your ministry (or for selfish gain) then you are in the same
error Simon was. But look at what he does further: he sows a seed into
Peter's ministry expecting the gift of the Holy Spirit in return! How
many today are sowing seeds into Todd Bentley's ministry expecting a
return of miracles and of the Spirit? Peter rebuked him sharply!
On
Todd's main website, he has a big button that says, "Sow a seed into
revival now!" Is this any different from what Simon tried to do? On top
of this, there are repeated exploitations of the crowds hyping them up
to "sow seeds" into the revival and the expectancy is created to
receive miracles and the "Holy Spirit" back in return. While the crowds
are falling for it, I think I know what the Apostle Peter's words would
be...hmmm...
(2Ti 4:2). Preach the word; be instant in
season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering
and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound
doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves
teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from
the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Preach the
Word! That's what it says! It doesn't say, "Preach about miracles,
preach about angels, preach about extra-scriptural revelations, preach
about coming revivals, etc" -it says PREACH THE WORD OF GOD! Sharp,
plain, pure, preaching of the Word of God should be the primary mark of
a true revival! Then it says to reprove and rebuke. Where is the
reproving and rebuking in this "revival", of calling out sin and
proclaiming the judgment of God upon an apostate church? Where is
the exhorting, the spuring on to love and holiness, the sound
scriptural exhortation with sound doctrine and clear Biblical exegesis?
It's not in Lakeland! Nor is it in Todd's ministry!
The time
has already come that the masses of professing Christians don't want to
hear or endure sound doctrine that pricks to the heart and strikes the
heart of man with the fear of the Living God, that preaches hard
against sin and calls for true and deep repentance, that exalts the
risen Christ and expounds and applies His commandments as neccesary for
salvation. This revival is not a revival of Scriptural doctrine or of
practical holiness, it is a revival of ear-tickling prophecies and
false revelations purporting to be of God. The people's ears are turned
away from the sound truth of the Holy Scriptures and are turned unto
the fables of angelic experiences and slick stories these men either
delude themselves into believing or else just make up (such as Todd's
claim to have ascended into the Third Heaven and visited the Apostle
Paul's cabin and had a conversation with him over who wrote the book of
Hebews, or of a female angel that brings financial prosperity and
manifests gold dust!).
(2Co 11:4). For if he that
cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye
receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel,
which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
The
"Jesus" that Todd Bentley is preaching is not the Jesus of the Bible.
His "Jesus" doesn't preach and emphasize deep repentance, denying self
and carrying the cross, selling one's possesions to give to the poor
and needy, forsaking ALL to follow him, and freely bestows his
"anointing" on all who have heretical or bad doctrine and loose,
immoral lives.
The "spirit" that Todd Bentley is operating
under is causing manifestations that DO NOT APPEAR anywhere in the
Bible. He has been known to cause animal manifestations as well
(clucking like chickens, barking like dogs, etc.), all of which are
manifestations that have long been associated with pagan and heathen
religions but are found nowhere in Scripture, except with Nebechanezzar
at the judgement of God.
The "gospel" that Todd preaches is a
gospel of seeking after signs and wonders. It's hocus pocus. Angel
feathers, gold dust, diamonds falling, seeing female angels, again, all
of which are found nowhere in Scripture. Seeking after miracles and not
after the face and heart and burden of God is a deadly delusion that
will lead one straight into accepting "another spirit". There are MANY
spirits in the world, which is why we are called both to test the
spirits, and to test those who purport to be prophets and teachers by
their DOCTRINE. Their doctrine must be solid and sound, and Todd's is
more new age and hype than it is sound Bible doctrine.
(2Th
2:8-11). And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall
consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the
brightness of his coming. Even him, whose coming is after the working
of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all
deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they
received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for
this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should
believe a lie.
We need not say that just because
there are many geniune miracles, that the whole move must be of God.
The Anti-Christ himself will do many signs and wonders. And the mystery
of lawlesness (anti-Christ deception) is already at work in the world.
Anti-Christ doesn't neccesary outright oppose Christ, instead, he
counterfeits him.
(2Co 11:13-15). For such are
false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the
apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed
into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers
also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall
be according to their works.
Angel encounters are
a constant theme in his meetings, and people just soak it all up, not
even thinking to seriously question it. But who is to say these angels
are truly the angels of the Lord God, and not emissaries of Satan sent
to deceive? Todd claims that his healing anointing comes from an angel,
but there is no record in all of Scripture of an angel giving somebody
an anointing. The Holy Spirit is the only One who anoints God's
ministers. If the anointing is from an angel, it's a huge red flag.
(Col
2:18-19). Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility
and worshiping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not
seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, And not holding the Head,
from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment
ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
Glean
what you will from that Scripture, but do note this, it is a very
dangerous thing to speak constantly of angels and to give them the
glory for an anointing. I don't want any part of an anointing from any
angel, I only want the HOLY SPIRIT'S anointing, period. Because I don't
know whether it's an angel of God or an angel of light sent to deceive.
(Mat 7:22-23). Many will say to me in that day,
Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have
cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then
will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that
work iniquity.
Note, just because somebody: 1. Calls Jesus "Lord" 2. Prophesies 3. Casts out demons 4. Does many *wonderful* works (which includes healing people)
Just
because they do all these things DOES NOT mean they are of God! It's
not a few, but MANY, that do these things and do not belong to the true
Jesus of the Bible. The Catholic Church still does genuine excorcisms
(casting out demons) to this day but they are serious idolaters who
preach 'another gospel'. Signs and wonders is no proof of being genuine
or not. The only way we can tell is by:
1. The doctrine of the teacher (2 John) 2. The fruit of their life (Mat. 7) 3. Discerning of the spirit they operate under (1 Cor 12)
PLEASE
PEOPLE RUN FOR YOUR LIFE FROM THIS END-TIME DECEPTION!!! IT IS A
DANGEROUS THING TO EMBRACE ANOTHER SPIRIT THAT'S NOT THE HOLY SPIRIT!!!
